Cosy but large park, perfect for a chill afternoon with nature, bars, and restaurants on site
Relaxing atmosphere / Many bars and cafes / Great for sports
Westerpark is one of my favourite places in Amsterdam, the nature there is very diverse and beautiful, you have a lot of different paths and activities to do there. The park itself is quite big, it has a relaxing area with a lake where you can sit on the grass. You cannot swim in the lake, it’s there to admire only. If you walk deeper in the park you will see several old style Amsterdam buildings, these are the bars, restaurants and even a brewery. People often have picnics, BBQa and little parties over there. If you are interested in having a BBQ, they even have a few BBQ stands so you just need to bring the coal and grab yourself a picnic table.
Westerpark also hosts festivals, like the famous Milkshake festival during the gay pride, food truck festival, fun fair and others. Towards the end of the park (close to Sloretdijk) there are communal gardens. They are situated in a private area but you can have a walk in the beautiful tiny streets and admire people’s gardens.
