This famous area features a unique tram rail setup with grass along the tracks, winding bike lanes, canals, a park where you can sit alongside the canal on the grass, a memorial to those lost in Auswitz and a beautiful bar where you can sit outside and overlook it all.

The bridge often opens on the canal here which is fascinating to see

Albert Heijn is just around the corner if you want a few beers or snacks before you chill

It’s well worth passing through, with an extremely convenient location, if you follow the road all the way east you will end up in Nieuwmarkt, and keep heading west to pass the Artis zoo and over to Oosterpark.

Visiting tips

Travel through on the way to or from back from Artis/the East

Follow the winding road east to head into the center of town and the Niewmarkt / Redlight area.

Keep following the road west to pass the Artis and towards the beautiful plantage area of Amsterdam, eventually finishing up at Oosterpark

Also in the area is the Hortus Botanicus (botanical gardens) which are worth a visit for a few hours of plant based entertainment.
