Don't rush out of the Rijksmuseum area, there is a beautiful garden surrounding it and it’s worth your attention
Free entry / Beautiful flowers and great seating
The garden surrounds the historical Rijks museum, but it is not just for museum visitors to enjoy, it is open for everyone. The most impressive part of the garden is the south east side, there you will find many historical statues, fountains, a mysterious greenhouse dating all the way from the 19th century and a beautiful green maze. Though if that all sounds too much you can just grab a seat under a huge beautiful tree and enjoy the shade.
On the opposite side, you will find a big open chess board, it is open for anyone who wants to play, if you dare! Next to that there are several small vegetable and flower gardens that are planted by the children for educational purposes. There are plenty of seats in the sun or in the shade so you can enjoy some peaceful time.
