An attraction filled gentrified area in the North of Amsterdam
Impressive street art / Modern art museums / Lovely ride with a ferry
If you want to see a completely different side of Amsterdam, NDSM is the place. Former industrial place got a big face lift in the last couple of years and it is really worth your attention. Area is full of impressive grafitis, metal sculptures, installations and artists workshops. One of the biggest attractions there is STRAAT - a museum of street art. If you don’t have the time to visit the museum just have a walk around it, there is plenty of amazing graffiti just outside the museum walls.
NDSM also hosts one of the biggest flea markets in Amsterdam. If you’re lucky you can find some great vintage cloth or furniture. If you have too many things in your closet, this is the place where you can sell it.
For a nice sit down with your friends NDSM has quite a few lovely bars/restaurants. My 2 top pics would be Pllek and Noorderlicht. Both places have a nice assortment of vegetarian and meaty food, local beers, cute fairy lights and even a fireplace in the evenings. Pllek has a nice sandy beach just by the big river so you can actually feel like having a cocktail on the beach while still being in the city. Both places are perfect for warm summer nights.
To get to NDSM you must take a ferry (bikes are allowed on the ferry)
You can also cycle from the Adam tower, but the cycle is a bit far
If you are a street artist it’s the place for your art, creating graffiti there is allowed.
