A hidden gem and the perfect chill spot with safe spaces for swimming, and superb views over the water
Perfect in summer / Epic views over Amsterdam / Very few tourists / Close to a nice bar and restaurant
Marineterrein is a huge hit with locals, but rarely visited by tourists due to its hidden location and odd entrance through an inconspicuous door. This area provides some really unique sights, such as the full-size replica ‘pirate-style’ merchant ship of the Scheepvaartmuseum, over to the bizarre form of the Nemo Museum.
There is plenty of space for chilling on the grass or waterside, and ‘Pension Homeland’, a small hotel, high quality restaurant and bar with takeaway beers in the area. There is also a popup restaurant during the summer with Napolitan style pizzas.
A great experience even when raining
Can get incredibly busy on the hottest summer days
Ask a local if you can’t find the entrance
