About

Moco Museum is an independent museum, dedicated to contemporary and modern arts. It was founded with a purpose to attract younger audience and make modern art more accessible to the public. Moco museum hosts art from such famous artists as Banksy, Dali, Haring, Abramovic, Koons and Basquiat. It also opens its doors to many young contemporary artists who use sound, interiors, light, video, print, sculptures and many other art forms.

It's wise to check the agenda before your visit as the exhibitions constantly change.

Location

Moco museum is located in the Museumplein (Museum square) in Amsterdam. It’s neighbours are Steidelijk museum, Rijks museum and Van Gogh museum. Moco museum can be easily reached by tram (2 or 12) or Metro (52) from the central station.

Museum is located in a beautiful historic townhouse dating from 1904. The building itself adds to the allure of the museum experience, with its classic architecture mixed with the contemporary artworks within.

In addition to the Moco Museum in Amsterdam, there is also a branch located in Barcelona, Spain.

Visiting tips

  • Buy yout tickets online to avoid long lines
  • Museum gets quite busy, especially in the weekend, so I would advise to visit it early in the morning or late in the afternoon
  • Visit the giftshop, they have beautiful items insiped by contemporary artists
